Primary Election Day is Tuesday, February 23, 2027. A mayoral primary is held only if more than two candidates file by the October 26, 2026 deadline. If a candidate wins an outright majority in that primary, they are elected then and there.
Otherwise, the Mayor is elected at the Consolidated Election on Tuesday, April 6, 2027. Both dates are Tuesdays — Illinois elections always are.

Confirm your registration and polling place through the Cook County Clerk at cookcountyclerkil.gov/elections or Illinois Online Voter Registration at ova.elections.il.gov.
Vote early or by mail
Cook County offers early voting and vote by mail for suburban voters. Dates and locations for the February and April 2027 elections will be posted here once the Clerk publishes them.
Vote on Election Day
Polls are open 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2027 if a primary is held, and on Tuesday, April 6, 2027. If you're in line by 7:00 p.m., you can vote. (10 ILCS 5/17-1)
